Quick answers
Twelve common questions.
The questions delegates ask most often — booking, timing, format, certification, funding and what happens if plans change. Tap a question to see the answer.
For anything sector-specific (security clearances, accessibility needs, group bookings) please drop us a message — we reply same-day.
When do courses start and finish?
Delegates should arrive at 8:45am for a 9:00am start (your joining instructions will confirm exact timings). There's a 45-minute lunch break between 12:00 and 13:30, refreshments throughout the day, and the course finishes by 15:30.
What's the dress code?
There isn't one. Our courses are meant to be enjoyable and relaxing as well as effective — most delegates wear casual clothing and we'd encourage you to do the same.
How many people will be on my course?
We deliberately limit cohort sizes to make sure every delegate gets the attention they need. Groups range from 2 to 6 people. If you'd like to know how many people are on your specific course, just ask when you book.
Where will my course take place?
Most of our open courses run in Bridgend (twenty minutes from Cardiff city centre by road and rail) and Cardiff. Full directions and venue details are included with your joining instructions when you book.
Can I change delegate details after booking?
Yes — unlike some training companies, we don't charge a fee to change a delegate's details. Just let us know as early as you can and we'll swap names over for you.
How do I pay for a course?
We accept bank transfer, card payment and purchase orders from public bodies and corporate accounts. An invoice is sent on confirmation of your booking with 30-day payment terms by default — adjustable on request.
Is the course price per person or for the whole group?
The advertised price is per delegate for open courses. For in-house programmes delivered at your premises, you pay a single day rate that covers up to 12 delegates — see our in-house training page for current rates.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes — every Ascent course includes a Certificate of Completion with the course title, delivery dates and your name. We email a digital copy and you also receive a printed certificate at the end of the course.
Am I eligible for ReACT+ funding?
If you've been made redundant or face redundancy and you live in Wales, you may be eligible for up to £1,500 of Welsh Government funding toward vocational training. We handle the application — visit our funded training page to start the conversation.
Can you deliver this course in-house for our team?
Yes, every course in our catalogue can be delivered at your premises across Cardiff, Wales or UK-wide. We tailor the content to your sector, tools and team's starting point. Get in touch with team size and goals and we'll send a tailored quote within two working days.
Do you offer live online delivery?
Yes — most of our open courses are available as live online sessions, with the same interactivity as the classroom. Joining instructions and materials are sent in advance, and you'll get the recording too.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellations made 14 days or more before the course date are fully refundable. Cancellations between 7 and 14 days receive a 50% refund. Within 7 days the course fee is non-refundable, but we'll happily transfer your seat to a future date or another delegate from your organisation.
What delegates say
From our delegates.
Six unedited quotes from delegates across Welsh public bodies, FTSE-listed defence and engineering firms and universities. The kind of feedback we're proudest of.
I am absolutely delighted with the course in every respect. It has been particularly pleasing for me, with an interest in seeing the application and good project management practice. We have learned a different approach that leads to better outcomes.

The trainer was great and we learned a lot within the space of two days. I hope to come back for the 3D CAD course at the end of this year.

Attended two sessions over the last few weeks and the training was excellent. Really great sessions and I feel more confident with engineering drawing. I would highly recommend Ascent Training Wales to anyone who is looking at learning AutoCAD.

The Excel course has been great to attend, our training needs have been met time and time again and as an organisation we feel confident on how to perform our jobs. We can craft excellent spreadsheets and forms.

I attended my first day of a four-day course on Excel and Project yesterday and found the course content excellent and informative. With just two people on the course, the tutor has time to answer questions and give one-on-one training.

The trainers are very competent and flexible to tailor lessons to individual needs and requirements. During the training sessions all my questions were answered patiently.
